Kickers announce new ownership
Youth arm, RKYSC, acquires professional team

The Richmond Kickers are pleased to introduce a new ownership group, Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club (RKYSC). With more than 6,000 players under its umbrella and programs for youth ages 3-19, RKYSC recently acquired the assets of the professional team after claiming their fourth national Championship. Adding the pro program fulfills the club’s mission to grow the beautiful game of soccer and serve the community through a successful soccer club that entertains, invites community participation, and inspires all.

Former Kicker World Cup bound

Former Richmond Kicker Tim Brown earned a trip to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa with New Zealand, downing Bahrain in the second leg of the their qualifying series 1-0 after a scoreless draw in the first leg on the road. Former PDL striker Vedad Ibisivec finds his Bosnia side trailing after their first leg against Portugal.

Bumbut loaned to MISL club

The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce that midfielder Adrian Bumbut has joined the Baltimore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League for the 2009-10 season.

Dotsenko returns from Ajax visit

Richmond Kickers Technical Director Ihor Dotsenko recently visited AFC Ajax in Amsterdam, one of the most storied soccer clubs in European history. The invitation was provided by former Kickers Technical Director Eddie Van Schaick, who is now the Head Coach of Ajax's U-12 youth team.

Web Gem: Palace's Stadium

"We're going to be bringing a lot to the city of Baltimore, a great midsize venue for concerts, lacrosse, soccer, community events," Crystal Palace Baltimore President, Pete Medd said in a Baltimore Sun interview. "It continues the sports entertainment district that was begun by Camden Yards and M&T [stadium] and the proposed casino, and it creates a district that's a destination. The stadium can be a magnet and an anchor for further redevelopment."
 

Interview with Colin Falvey

USLsoccer.com tracked down USL Second Division All-League, Second Team member Colin Falvey to ask one of USL’s most-travelled players the ins-and-outs of signing 8,442 miles away from his former club in Wilmington, North Carolina. Falvey recently signed with his second New Zealand First Division club in two seasons, Young Heart Manawatu FC. Just one game into the 2009/10 season, Manawatu is 1-0-0 and in second place of the New Zealand Football Championship.
