Kickers add two rookies

RICHMOND, VA -- The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the signing of defender Adam Chavez out of Binghamton University and midfielder Eliot Paschalis of Furman University, pending USSF and visa approval. Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.

“Adam and Eliot stood out at the combine and we expect both players to compete immediately for starting positions,” comments Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Head Coach. We have signed both to long term contracts and look forward to them being the next generation of Kickers pros.”

A native of Endicott, New York, Chavez joins the Kickers defensive unit after concluding a standout collegiate career at Binghamton University in New York. Tallying six goals and 13 assists over four seasons, he made 80 appearances. Taking back-to-back First-Team All-Northeast Region team honors, the 6’1” defender was also earned First-Team All-Conference and America East Fall Academic Squad honors. The America East Conference Defender of the Year, Chavez led the Bearcats to the league’s regular season title and a runner-up performance in the conference tournament.

Chavez also spent the past two seasons with the Cape Cod Crusaders in the PDL, helping guide the team to a combined regular season record of 23-1-8, including an unbeaten 14-0-2 campain in 2006. Chavez tallied two assists in 29 games played.

Originally from London, England, Paschalis looks to add firepower to the Kickers roster after notching 13 goals and 11 assists for 37 points at Furman University. A Second-Team All-Southern Conference selection, Paschalis led Furman to the regular season title his senior year. Earning 72 starts in 75 games played over four seasons, he finished tied for sixth on the team with 12 points during his senior season and ranked fourth on the team with eight points his junior year.

Paschalis spent the 2004 season with the West Michigan Edge, tallying three assists in 10 games.

Discovered at the Kickers 2008 spring combine, Chavez and Paschalis are the recipients of the dedicated signing bonus.
